New in this Release
New 8.0 Independent Branding The software now displays the "StandOut DataViz" brand, while continuing to support "Visual Discovery" functionality. Note that predictive modeling and external ETL functionality are no longer available.
New Feature: Project Variables 7.5 Feature: A new feature has been added, "Project Variables", which enable static and dynamically-calculated summary information to be accessed by name throughout the project. In particular, Goal Lines for Bar Charts and Line Charts can now be defined dynamically, and the existing Text Chart can now display formatted dynamic summary information. 7.5.1 Update: Project Variables now update if fields they depend on are updated or deleted, and their usage can be displayed in Project Explorer. 7.5.2 Update: Static Project Variables can now be used in expressions in the Expression Builder.
Unique Counts in Summary Sheet (v7.5) Summary Sheet charts can now include a column that shows the number of unique values from any field that are selected in each category of the chart's primary dimension.
Segment Map Chart (v7.5) A Multiscape chart can now be configured to display in 2 dimensions, which is commonly useful to display a segmentation grid of your data.
New Chart Options (v7.5) Several options have been added in the Properties pane to control display of alternating shaded backgrounds in Data Sheet and Summary Sheet charts, as well as to hide the OVERALL line in Summary Sheets. Similarly, text charts now default to enable horizontal zoom, and Bar Charts and Line Charts now adjust their Y axis range to keep any Goal Lines visible. 7.5.1 Update: Analysis Filters now have options to not show Missing categories and to reverse-sort category lists.
Map Authoring Enhancements (v7.5) When creating a Map chart, the list of North American cities has been expanded to include those down to a population of 500. The default display of data bars is now optimized to square rather than round cylinders.
7.5.3 Mouse Wheel Scrolling In the 7.5.3 update, the convenience of mouse wheel scrolling is enabled for all scrollable charts in the desktop applications (Author & Reader). One wheel click in a Data Sheet, for example, should scroll by 3 lines.
7.5.4 Multi-line String Parsing in Text Files When loading CSV or text file data sources, quoted strings that include newline characters are now parsed so newlines are replaced with vertical bar characters ('|').
7.5.4 Copy Single String Value from Data Sheet A new context menu item for Data Sheet and Summary Sheet charts allows a single string value to be copied to the Windows clipboard. Position the mouse over a data value, right-click, and select "Copy Value" to copy the string in that row and column to the clipboard.
7.5.4 Data Sheet Column Width Adjustment Changes The behavior of adjusting column widths in Data Sheet and Summary Sheet (and also Parabox) charts has changed. When the edge of a column is dragged left or right, instead of growing one column and shrinking the adjacent one, only the width of the column to the left is changed, and all the columns to the right are shifted (if the Data or Summary Sheet is already zoomed in horizontally). In the default state, before the chart is zoomed in, the rightmost columns are collapsed or expanded like a telescope.
